Food Hygiene Course free – Our free Food Safety Level 1e-learning course has been designed to provide individuals that handle open food the essential knowledge and understanding of good Food Safety practices.

Safe and effective food safety and hygiene training isn’t just for businesses with a kitchen, it applies equally to businesses selling pre-packaged food and can help protect your business and ensure you avoid unwanted publicity. It also is essential for those working in the Health & Social Care Sector, especially those providing Care at Home.

Our course will help you understand your role in maintaining food safety. Our Free e-learning food safety and hygiene training course are ideal for those who work in low-risk catering environments.

In this course you will cover:

  • Introduction and fundamentals of food safety
  • Common Food Hazards and Risks
  • Responsibilities of food handlers and food safety

The food course is completely free and will take you up to around 3 hours to complete. At the end of the course, you will be assessed and providing you achieve a result of 80% will be issued immediately with a free downloadable certificate.

The course will also look at:

  • Understand the importance of food safety measures when providing food and drink for individuals.
  • Be able to maintain hygiene when handling food and drink.
  • Be able to meet safety requirements when preparing and serving food and drink for individuals.
  • Be able to meet safety requirements when clearing away food and drink.
  • Be able to store food and drink safely.
  • Know how to access additional advice or support about food safety.

Please note: this course does not provide a qualification itself but does meet mandatory training requirements. If you wish to achieve a recognised level 1 food safety qualification you must sit an exam with a recognised training provider (you can still use e-learning as the knowledge element of the training). Food handlers must be supervised and instructed and/or trained in food hygiene matters commensurate with their work activity.

Our course is set to run at your own pace. You will be studying on your own, when it is convenient for you, using the learning materials in this course. The learning content is organised into lessons and consists of a combination of the following:

  • Downloadable resources
  • links to websites and downloadable information sheets/booklets that will help you to learn more about the topic being studied. These items are underlined and in italics throughout the course content.
  • videos.
  • quizzes.

You will find Key Points throughout the content. These are used to help you to consolidate essential facts and practice observations.

There are also Think and reflect boxes where you may be asked to make notes or answer any questions asked. You will not be assessed on what you enter. This is simply to aid your learning and improve your practice. We recommend that you keep a notepad and pen by your side as you work through the food hygiene course and write your reflections and answers there.

How does this course promote Care Act (2014) and Care Quality Commission (CQC) compliance?

The Care Act 20141 sets out statutory responsibility for the integration of care and support between health and local authorities. All workers involved in the handling, preparation or provision of food are required by law to have received appropriate training in how to handle food safely
